Abstract

More than 40 organizations will kick off an anti-smoking campaign on Friday by holding a mock funeral for Joe Camel, the cartoon character who is used to promote a particular brand of cigarettes. After a funeral service at 57 Douglass Street, Joe Camel will be transported by hearse to Deering Oaks in Portland, where a local minister will conduct brief graveside ceremony.
