Abstract

The advocacy group Parents Against Tired Truckers has joined a national movement to make on-board computers mandatory in trucks. The computer system hooks directly to a truck's engine and automatically logs miles and time. The tamper-proof systems will get around the problem of drivers falsifying their logbooks so they can exceed federal laws limiting the number of hours they can drive each day.
