Abstract
Education reform in Maine began in 1990 with Maine's Common Core of Learning, and the Task Force on Learning Results (TFLR) began meeting with interested parties by 1993. The work of the TFLR, to create an educational plan that would follow the common core, complies with the nationwide Goals 2000 program, signed by President Clinton in March 1994. The results of the task force may change forever the face of education in Maine. Gorham's six schools have instituted radical changes in the way students are taught, and might be an indication of what the rest of the state faces. Details.
