Abstract

Construction on the proposed Sears Island marine cargo terminal began in the 1980s, and there is finally a sense among both supporters and opponents of the project that a decision on the cargo port will be made soon. John DeVillars, regional administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, tomorrow will decide whether the port should be located on Sears Island or at Mack Point on the mainland. Gov. King, a strong supporter of the Sears Island facility, has said he will ask Congress for relief if DeVillars denies the facility the EPA's blessing. Details.
