Abstract
Hikers using Tumbledown Mountain are trashing the place, building fires and leaving behind trash and human waste. The two major landowners in the area, Hancock Timber Resources and Boise Cascade, and have formed a partnership with the Appalachian Mountain Club to develop options that will provide some management oversight. The Tumbledown Range has been proposed in the past for protection by the Land for Maine's Future Board, but funds are lacking.MBNA of Camden has indicated that it will issue an affinity credit card that will donate a projected $500,000 annually to the Land for Maine's Future Board.
