Abstract
American Ash Recycling has completed its state application for an incinerator-ash recycling plant in Scarborough, which would turn the ash into a product that could be used in road construction, as a cover for landfills and as an additive for concrete blocks. The company operates a similar plant in Tennessee, and will lease property from Commercial Paving and Recylcing of Scarborough for the new plant. Questions have been raised about American Ash in Tennessee, where opponents claimed the recycling process made metals in the ash more soluble. Details.
