Abstract
Maine Handicapped Skiing at Sunday River Ski Resort in Bethel has had ten years of success with its alpine skiing program, and is now offering cross-country skiing. The Nordic program is offered free of charge thanks to corporate funding, and is one of only three such programs in the country. Steve Wight, owner of Sunday River Cross Country Ski Center, worked with Craig Gray of Scarborough and recreational therapist Karen Knight to get the program started, while L.L. Bean offered seed money for adaptive equipment. There are currently 24 participants and the same number of volunteers. Details.
