Abstract
Gov. King last week suspended the permitting process on the proposed Sears Island cargo port, blaming federal environmental regulators for making the project unfeasible. Dan Sosland of the Conservation Law Foundation in Rockland said he hopes the state will take another look at the developed Mack Point site, which has been pushed as an alternative to developing Sears Island. The Maine Department of Transportation has disparaged Mack Point, but it is now getting some support from others, including Ben Coes of of the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad.
