Abstract
MBNA is developing nine acres of ridgeline property on Ducktrap Mountain for the proposed 27,000-square-foot MBNA Conference Center, and the project has met with some local opposition. The site abuts the St. Clair preserve, a 304-acre sanctuary owned by the Nature Conservancy, and the area is regularly visited by bald eagles. Michael Mullen of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection says the state's main concern is that the project is being built in a deeryard. The primary concern of local opponents of the project seems to be one of aesthetics.
