Abstract

Related articles on the return of passenger rail service between Portland and Boston. Service was originally scheduled to begin in the fall of 1994, but the latest date discussed is the fall of 1997. Rod Rodrigue, 51, president of Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad, thinks his small excursion railway is well positioned to provide passenger trains to places like Freeport, Brunswick, Augusta, Lewiston and Bangor. A recent study focusing on travel within York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Androscoggin and Kennebec counties concluded that there is significant demand for commuter rail in Maine.
