Abstract
The Gardner Land Company has proposed rezoning a 3,650-acre parcel in remote Piscataquis County to develop a 43-lot subdivision. The tract is surrounded by some of the state's famed conservation lands, including Baxter State Park and the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. The proposal is opposed by Restore: The North Woods, the Maine Audubon Society, the Natural Resources Council of Maine and others. A public hearing on Tuesday in Millinocket was attended by nearly 100 supporters and opponents of the project, and the Maine Land Use Regulation Commission will consider a vote at the September of October regular monthly meeting.
