Abstract
A man last week shot an 81-pound animal after catching it in a trap, and after preliminary DNA analysis officials are still not sure if the animal is a coyote or a wolf. Coyotes commonly weigh to 50 pounds, and the Maine record for a coyote is 66 pounds. The animal's skull is being sent to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service laboratory in Oregon for further DNA testing. Details.
