Abstract
Winthrop psychotherapist Ellen Bowman says play is rehearsal for children, and toys help children work on their issues. Henrietta Clews of Blue Hill, a nurse-midwife, says that play helps children learn about socialization and control. Boys and girls seem to process information differently, and have distinct forms of play. Bowman says there are no bad toys, but she does have problems with computer and video games. Details.
