Abstract

The Bath-Brunswick Times-Record was launched on February 6, 1967, by Campbell Barrett Niven. Niven's father, Paul K. Niven, was editor and publisher of the Brunswick Record, and his mother, Dorothy, was the daughter of Frank Barrett Nichols, owner and publisher of the Bath Daily Times. The Times Record focuses on community news, and is one of the healthiest of Maine's seven dailies, and according to some is the most technologically advanced paper in the state. The Times Record and its printing business have both been profitable for years, at a time when the state's other newspapers are downsizing and reporting disappointing advertising revenues. Details, related article on Kenneth Z. Chutchian's experiences as a reporter at the Kennebec Journal and the Times Record.
