Abstract
The Task Force on Tribal-State Relations was created by the Maine Legislature to examine the 1980 Indian Land Claims Settlement Act and make recommendations. The task force issued a report, "At Loggerheads-The State of Maine and the Wabanaki," which details continued friction between Maine's Indian tribes and the government. Discontent with how the state interpreted and implemented the act, and the inability of the Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission to resolve problems, is increasing. Details.
