Abstract
The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission recently gave unanimous approval for a proposed 1,260-acre cranberry bog project. The operation will be established at five separate sites within Cherryfield Foods land holdings in Townships 18, 24 and 25. Cherryfield Foods is one of the largest landowners in Washington County, with 41,500 acres, 8,600 acres of which are in blueberry production. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and the Atlantic Salmon Authority raised concerns about some of the sites, prompting Cherryfield to amend its plans. Details.
