Abstract

The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission has unanimously approved fines against Cherryfield Foods, L&B Estates of Canada, Omer Jean of Hamlin and former Great Northern executive Jim Giffune. Cherryfield was fined $4,000 for illegal timber harvesting on its blueberry lands, with nine violations occurring in 1995 at three sites. In the Giffune case, contractor William Reed rearranged the shoreline and lake bed at Giffune's camp on Ambejejus Lake.
