Abstract

Kennedy Slate Mine Forestry of Abbottville has been fined $3,000 for polluting tributaries of Bog Brook in Guilford. The woods contracting company has a history of environmental law violations. Mike Davis, one of two partners in Kennedy Slate, filed a 16-count defamation suit against the Maine Department of Conservation and six employees of the Maine Forest Service, claiming they falsely accused him of violating civil and criminal laws in connection with a 1995 woodlot harvest in Norridgewock.
