Abstract

The Baxter State Park Authority on January 13 voted against maintaining the old logging road into the park's newly acquired 2,669-acre parcel. Vern Haines of the Fin & Feather Club of Millinocket wrote authority chairman Chuck Gadzik asking that the existing road infrastructure be maintained, and cited the Americans with Disabilities Act. Park director Buzz Caverly said it was clear the club was using handicapped access as a tool to circumvent the authority's vote. Bob Boutaugh of Millinocket has filed a complaint against the park with the Maine Human Rights Commission on a handicapped access matter. Details.
