Abstract
Former Speaker of the House John Martin, who directs a camp used for environmental education at the University of Fort Kent, made a successful 11th-hour pitch to the Legislature for $100,000 in funds for a new camp to replace replace one that burned. The new camp will be larger and will be built in a restricted zone near the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Gov. Angus King wanted to use his line-item veto against the appropriation, but doing so would have held up the supplementary budget.
