Abstract

An article about a carpeting contract for state-owned office space that was awarded to J & J Industries of Georgia, the lowest bidder. State law encourages the heads of state agencies to award contracts to Maine companies, though they are not required to do so. The state's decision to award the contract to an out-of-state company has left local dealers, like Frank Pomerleau's of Augusta, very upset. Details.
