Abstract

The Maine Legislature this year acted to protect the state's urchin population by banning the harvesting of urchins during the summer months, and Maine's urchin divers have responded by traveling to the waters off of New Hampshire so they can continue harvesting the creatures. New Hampshire is now considering regulating the industry in order to avoid problems with overharvesting. Details.
