Abstract

Mooselookmeguntic is the only one of the Rangely lakes included in the recent jet ski ban on 245 Maine lakes and ponds., but at public hearing held by the Maine Land Use Regulation Commission, property owners called for the ban to be extended to entire regions, not just individual lakes. The session was essentially a formality, since the ban has already been enacted, and the commission is establishing rules to achieve the prohibition. Commissioners were regaled with problems alleged to be caused by the jet skis, although a few of the speakers said the ban was an overreaction.
