Abstract

Details on a $47,000 project to relocate adolescent lobsters in Portland Harbor before officials dredge 800,000 cubic yards from 11 areas in the harbor. The harbor has a dense population of lobsters. There is a at least one every 10 square meters, most of which are below the legal catch size. The project is somewhat experimental and is being watched with interest by other states. With details on the relocation process and the dredging, which will improve navigation following construction of the Casco Bay Bridge.
