Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on the $20 million Question 1 bond issue on the Nov. 3 ballot, which would be used to stimulate research and development efforts. The chief beneficiary would be the University of Maine System, which would receive $13.5 million to renovate and equip laboratories at the Orono and Portland campuses. With a breakdown of other R&D beneficiaries, and information about a $7 million bond issue to address environmental concerns, which is also on the ballot.
