Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on a Bureau of Parks and Lands decision to allow vehicle access to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway at John's Bridge. The Allagash Alliance, which opposed entry at the bridge, is now protesting the bureau's intention to build a six-foot-wide gravel trail from the planned parking lot on Seven Islands Land property down to the state-owned waterway, which they say is not in keeping with maintaining "maximum wilderness character" as called for in the management plan.
