Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on the anticipated state revenue surplus. Twice in the past three months, the Maine State Revenue Forecasting Committee has revised its projections upward. Last week the committee bumped up by $89 million its estimate of the surplus, bringing the total to $340 million. The biggest piece of the current surplus ($214 million) comes from increased individual income tax collections, which is a direct result of the economy's continued growth.
