Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on the disclosure that Wal-Mart has been fined $206,000 by the Department of Labor for 1,400 child labor violations during a three-year period from 1995-98. All 20 Wal-Mart stores in Maine were implicated. The Department of Labor never received an employee complaint and some $72,000 of the fine has been earmarked to educate teens, parents and employers about child labor laws.
