Abstract
"In Addition" piece about Drs. John McGuckin and William Frank, two Sanford family physicians, who bar drug representatitives from their premises and refuse to take their free samples. Dr. Frank says, "We just believe there is something intrinsically about us accepting samples from these guys to influence our prescribing habits." Drug companies spend an estimated $5 billion a year to employ 56,000 sales representaives, who ply doctors with free drugs, samples, meals and gifts. Details.
