Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on Brunswick Ford Sales, an automobile dealership and repair shop in Brunswick that was recently fined $7,700 by the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for disabling a vehicle's catalytic converter at the owner's request. Not only did the vehicle owner escape sanctions, but he is not even compelled to get the catalytic converter fixed. Mindy Lubber, regional administrator for the EPA, said car dealers and repair shops are well aware of the Clean Air Act standards regarding emissions.
