Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on a new state regulation requiring all buried home oil lines to be wrapped in conduit or taken out of service. The typical length of a home oil line is between 20 and 30 feet and the Oil and Solid Fuel Board estimates the average cost to be around $150. Currently there is no fine or penalty for non-compliance. But officials say someone notified of a spill who does not replace the pipes could be required to pay more than the standard $500 deductible for a Department of Environmental Protection clean up.
