Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on a new inshore trawl survey from Kittery to Eastport that got underway last week. Leroy Bridges, president of the Downeast Lobsterman's Association, says unnecessary trawling has a negative effect and could promote habitat degradation. But Carl Wilson, the Department of Marine Resources' chief lobster biologist, said beneficial information gained through the project should outweigh any harm done. The survey's aim is to identify quantities of fish species, lobster and other invertebrates.
