Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on William Gillis of Scarborough, who is seeking a change in state law to increase the Medicaid reimbursement subsidy to anyone who builds a new nursing home to replace an older facility. Gillis' proposed $10 million Sentry Common in Kittery is the only planned nursing home that fits that description. The National Labor Relations Board on Jan. 30 found Gillis and other co-owners of the Gorham House violated labor laws and ordered them to begin bargaining with a union. But Gillis is appealing the order to U.S. District Court.
