Abstract
John J. Sullivan, a convicted murderer, in December was abruptly transferred from the Maine State Prison in Thomaston to a prison in New Hampshire, apparently because of the columns he was writing for Maine Times. Maine Times editor Peter W. Cox says there are reasons for allowing inmates to write about prison.
