Abstract

"News" piece on a major transmission line project proposed by Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. The utility has appealed a ruling from John Tewhey, chairman of the Board of Environmental Protection (BEP), that it must file a new application. What led to the ruling was a last-minute proposal by the company to change the original 84-mile route of its planned line because the BEP's staff recommended that the entire project should be denied because it would have unacceptable environmental impacts. Bangor Hydro's appealing of Tewhey's ruling was scheduled to go before the full board this week at a meeting in Augusta.
