Abstract

Josephine M. LaPlante, associate professor at the University of Southern Maine's Muskie Institute of Public Affairs, delivered a report to the Legislature's Education Committee that shows there is no link between a school system's per-student expenditure and the quality of its education. Part of the problem, according to the report, is that some schools are simply too small to offer the diversity and depth of programs available at larger schools. Details.
