Abstract
Apple Valley Campground in Acton was literally hacked out of the woods 15 years ago by owners Debbie and Ken Smith. The access road plunges off an open ridge on Route 109, down through an apple orchard. The campground hosts events all summer long, including its own holidays: a Christmas weekend with a visit from Santa, Halloween trick or treating, and a Fourth of July parade. Three-quarters of its 160 sites are occupied by the same families year after year.
