Abstract
Some Bar Harbor residents are concerned that a Maine Department of Transportation plan to widen the first 2.3 miles of Route 3 on Mount Desert Island will destroy a number of trees and the island's rural look. The current proposal for the $4 million project includes nearly doubling the width of the road, with a paved shoulder and the clearing of a 100-foot-wide right of way. Details.
