Abstract
The three-day Hempstock festival on Harry Brown's farm in Starks is expected to draw 7,000 people to a celebration of marijuana, music, food and crafts. The chief organizers of the event are Brown, 45, who recently served four months on trafficking charges, and Donald Christen, 41, of Madison, who is awaiting trial on a charge of aggravated trafficking of marijuana. Christen, the leader of the pro-hemp group Maine Vocals, says the organization has collected more than 10,000 signatures in a petition drive intended to force a statewide referendum on legalizing the weed.
