Abstract

The Vermont Fish and Game Department confirmed that three animals seen near Craftsbury last April were in fact mountain lions, increasing the possibility that similar sitings in Maine have been authentic. Wayne Perri of Hartland claims to have photographed a mountain lion in Caratunk, and a deer hunter allegedly sighted one in Columbia Falls. The last confirmed cougar in New England was taken in Maine along the upper St. John in 1938. Details.
