    Description

    Full exterior view of Gannett Building, 390 Congress Street, from west. Market Street at left, Exchange Street at right.
    The building's original portion faced Federal Street, and had been built in 1925 by Guy Patterson Gannett for his fledgling newspaper, the Portland Press Herald. The section facing Congress Street was built in 1947, as the Gannett business expanded into radio (WGAN) and later television (WGME), also housing the newspaper's printing presses.
