Description
Full exterior view of the Asa Hanson Block building, 548 Congress Street, from northwest. Boston Shoe Store (548 1/2 Congress Street) at left Fanny Farmer Candies (550 Congress Street) at right. Western edge of the F.W. Woolworth store at left. The Hanson Block is at the northeast corner of Congress Street and Oak Street.
The building was designed by Portland architects Frederick Augustus Tompson and Francis Fassett, in 1889. The name "Perry" above the entrance is that of building developer Charles Perry.
