Description
Views of the Café Always, 47 Middle Street.
The bistro, owned by Cheryl Lewis and Norine Kotts, was reviewed in the New York Times (6 Sept. 1987) as follows:
"Café Always (47 Middle Street; 207-774-9399) exudes high-tech chic with yellow tablecloths, triangular black rubber place mats and nifty cutlery and stoneware. The menu, which is modified daily, has included such offerings as eggplant soup, grilled red snapper with lemon, garlic and jalapeno butter sauce, veal loin sauteed with shiitake mushrooms and cream sauce and fresh pasta. Bread and ice cream made on the premises are always on hand. Dinner for two with wine is about $75 and reservations are necessary -especially on weekends."
