Description
Exterior views of the Clambake Restaurant, 354 Pine Point Road, Scarborough. Donald Thurlow opened the seafood restaurant, circa-1962, and the Thurlow family continued the business following Donald's passing in 2004.
"Originally there was a fish market on the property where the Clambake stands now," the Portland Press Herald reported on 7 April 2005. "Donny Thurlow thought that the close proximity to the fishing community, and also the short distance to Old Orchard Beach, served as a great basis for putting up a seafood restaurant. By being able to purchase seafood fresh daily, the area in Pine Point seemed to be a perfect spot for a great Maine seafood restaurant."
