    Description

    Full exterior view of Our Place building, 54 York Street, from northeast. Maple Street at left, York Street at right. Commercial Street visible in left background. Building at 85 York Street (Portland Photographics) in right background.

    Our Place, a nonprofit community center, was created in 1972, "providing social activities, suppers, games, and music to low-income people from all over Greater Portland." The building had been bought through the Portland City Council with $35,000.00 from the former federal Model Cities program and turned over to the nonprofit organization.
