Abstract

Central Maine Power Co. yesterday announced a restructuring aimed at the stabilization and eventual reduction of electric rates. The measures proposed include the layoffs of 225 employees, a reduction in spending and the sale of more surplus electricity. The layoffs, involving 10 percent of the current workforce, will be the largest in the utility's history. Details.
