Abstract

Central Maine Power Co. is providing public access to the Presumpscot River in Windham by building a public boat launch, tote road and parking lot below the Great Falls Dam. A preliminary archaeological assessment on the property turned up evidence of a prehistoric occupation, and further archaeological work is scheduled to take place next month. Residents of Windham are being encouraged to visit and volunteer at the site, in an attempt to use the project for public education purposes. Details.
