Abstract

Figures from the state and Systems Control, the company that runs the CarTest program, show that only around 67 percent of the cars and trucks that were subject to the automobile emissions testing program were actually brought in for testing during July, and even fewer were brought in during August. A committee of state lawmakers on Monday voted to recommend a suspension of the program to the full Legislature, and state officials and representatives of Systems Control are negotiating the terms of a voluntary suspension.
