Abstract
Fifth-graders from South Berwick's Central School yesterday held a mock trial at York County Superior Court in which Rumpelstilskin sued the Queen Mallory. After listening to the testimony on both sides, the jurors deliberated about 10 minutes before finding the queen guilty of not paying Rumpelstilskin for having spun her straw into gold. The jury awarded Rumpelstilskin $25,000. The trial, which featured a dozen costumed students playing various roles, was part of a civics lesson taught by Chris Morgan-Jones, a fifth-grade teacher.
