Abstract

Allegations that state senator W. John Hathaway had sex with an underage female in Alabama more than six years ago surfaced during Hathaway's recent campaign for the U.S. Senate. Hathaway, his wife and their five children could face investigation by child protective authorities in Maine, which is standard practice when an adult is accused of abusing a child. Sue-Ellen Hathaway confirmed that she and her daughters were interviewed by child protective workers in Alabama when the allegations first surfaced.
